Sergio's Trattoria - San Ramon, CA

Sergio's Trattoria
500 Bollinger Canyon Way
San Ramon, CA 94582

Sergio's Trattoria is tucked in Canyon Lakes, but only a minute from Bollinger Canyon Road. We had a wonderful first time experience here tonight, from our excellent Greek server to our entrees to the surprise Cioccolato Arancio dolce shots that came with our bill.

The Pescatore was amazing and filled with fresh shellfish...there must have been at least two dozen mussels on the plate! Their Gnocchi alla Bolognese was also one of the best I've had, a top contender with Matteo's Amarone in downtown Pleasanton.

Pescatore - $36.95

Gnocchi alla Bolognese - $16.95

T.G.I. Friday's - Pleasanton, CA

T.G.I. Friday's

I tried Friday's Endless Lunch (soup, salad, breadsticks and drink for $6.99) today and it was hit and miss...with more hits than misses. Service was great, thanks to our attentive server Scott (and the bussers were efficient also) so they get 4 stars for service, value and the freshly baked breadsticks! :)

Tomato Basil Soup - Delicious, but I'd call it "Tomato" soup, as I didn't detect any basil at all...that's chopped parsley sprinkled on top.

Broccoli Cheese Soup - This was a bit watery for my liking and although the flavor was okay, I wouldn't order it again.

House Salad - A few bites of the wilted lettuce and the flavorless ranch dressing was about all I could take. Next time, I'm going to try the Caesar Salad!

Breadsticks - When they're freshly baked, these breadsticks are delightfully heavenly! I didn't eat "all-I-can-eat" but I was tempted to.

California Club Sandwich ($7.29) - I was told by the hubby that this was a lot tastier than it looks!

Blush Organic Frozen Yogurt - Dublin, CA

Blush Organic Frozen Yogurt

Dublin, CA 94568

Blush is tucked away in the Shops at Waterford between Armadillo Willy's and Amici's East Coast Pizzeria. I had high hopes of trying Blush's organic frozen yogurt for the first time this afternoon...but unfortunately, I was disappointed in their signature "blush" flavor. :(

First of all, they only have 4 flavors to choose from (plain, chocolate, pineapple and blush, which is their blend of pomegranate and dragonfruit.) Second, they have a very limited selection of toppings...unlike any other fro-yo place I've been to. Last, but not least, they are not a "self-serve" type place, so you don't have the option of getting exactly the quantity and variety of yogurt and toppings you want.

If you're looking for a great deal on a Japanese Bento Dinner, I recommend Sozo Sushi. Their $16.99 Bento Special dinner includes enough for two people (combination tempura, chicken teriyaki, rice, salad, 3 pieces California Roll, 3 pieces nigiri and 8 pieces sashimi) PLUS they offer complimentary edamame and miso soup! However, if you're looking for quality sushi, Sozo Sushi will disappoint you.

Taking advantage of Friday's "Buy One Entree, Get One Free" coupon (sent to Give Me More Stripes members), we've come to love their Jack Daniel's Glazed Ribs with sweet potato fries.

For the most part, the ribs have been really good, tender and fall-off-the-bone...but a couple of times (when we came here past 9pm) they've been pretty dry. We've had wonderful service from Sara, Brian H. and Zachary...but have had not-so-good service from Angelica and Jayda.

Jack Daniel's Glazed Ribs $17.99 (sweet potato fries, add $1.29)

Stephen's Pasta Cafe - San Ramon, CA

Tonight's visit would have been rated 5 stars based on the service provided by our tall, young male server and the entrees (Fettucine Abruzzi and the Salmon), but I docked a star because the female server who cashed us out told us we had to order something else because the $35 Restaurant.com minimum purchase did not include soft drinks...which was not the case the last time we dined there, nor has it ever been the case at any Restaurant.com restaurant.

She went on to say: "Things have changed because we're struggling now," and it wasn't worth my time arguing over a few dollars, so I ordered a $5.95 slice of cheesecake to go. I peeked inside the little styrofoam container and I have never seen such a tiny piece of cheesecake in my life (check out the photo below)! :)

Caesar side salad $2.50

Fettuccine Abruzzi $12.95

Salmon on a bed of pureed squash $13.95

Stephen's slice of cheesecake $5.95 - OVERPRICED!

Cattlemens Restaurant - Livermore, CA

Cattlemens Restaurant
2882 Kitty Hawk Rd.
Livermore, CA 94551

Always on the lookout for dinner deals, I noticed a banner advertising "$9.99 Sirloin Steak Dinner" at Cattlemens and decided to give it a try. I've never ordered a sirloin steak before (I'm a filet mignon or prime rib gal) but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was SO much better than I had expected!

Cattlemens serves Harris Ranch beef and the petite 8 oz. sirloin I ordered medium rare was an excellent value for $9.99, which also included unlimited salad. I'm a big fan of Cattlemens' sweet potato (served with honey pecan butter) so it was well worth $1.99 extra to substitute it for a regular baked potato.

Their salad was average, a typical house salad topped with grape tomatoes, sliced red onions, cucumbers and not-so-good croutons. Service was pretty good; efficient without being exceptional. The best thing about tonight's meal was the overall value and the unexpected success of the sirloin!

All-You-Can-Eat Salad - $5.99 (or included with entree)

Petite (8 oz.) Sirloin Steak - $9.99 special (add $1.99 for sweet potato)
